I think it's about time for me to get my butt moving after 8 months of lazing around. Since the first time I decided to study for exams, since the first time I remember myself entering the dance studio in a chilling, damp night, carrying books and notes not knowing where to start revision for econs, begins my starvation from bboy.

And up to yesterday's chilling, dry night did I make a point to resume what and where I left off. So hopelessly behind, but glad that I made the decision nonetheless. No use saying that one won't give up bboying but in fact he had. Just say it in the face. I give up.

My decision in the opposite. No matter what command school will fling at me, I will pluck time up to pursue this passion.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guys, it matters to me whether you guys bboy or not in the future. But I will never account bboying to our bonding, just like many of you would not I am sure. Some of you guys would have given up silently. Please don't pledge to each other. These facts are only true to yourself. So if you quit, it's still alright :) We will stick together for a lifetime :))

But I am making a decision to continue, at least for the phase of NS when it's hardest to do so (NS, give me the shit man). So I hope you guys will follow.

there are roughly forty
Sunday, January 25, 2009 0 comments

During my train ride home from pasir ris yesterday, I sat down in half-realization that I'm back in civilization. Having not seen a double decker for 2 weeks, or a train for 2 weeks, it brings back memories of life in Singapore. Down there, all I could is to see planes flying by on top of us and disappearing to the sunrise.

And in the MRT was a half-daze, not fully realizing my liberation from the Tekong camp, and so I took out the notebook and started scribbling mind-stuff in my new font.

So for the resolutions of this year, I'm going to condense them to the important points.

-IPPT gold
-Curb that temper
-Be a more caring and loving friend
-Obtain a less messy and complex brain (much had been done)
-Insulation from mediocrity, stemmed with self-assurance.
-A more spiritual person who had better knowledge of God than 2008.

There is roughly forty seconds I have to cut for my 2.4 to get IPPT gold. The first time I had to train for endurance. Not saying that I'm very good, but I just dislike endurance training. The other, well, more developmental prospects of my vision (or, to-do, goals, aims, targets, accomplishments-to-be), are 40 leagues away.

ease up
Wednesday, October 15, 2008 0 comments

Today Victoria told me in the car

"Hey, you need to ease up"

The pressure I mount on myself is not blindly induced, but it's to curb pride and complacency. Although this had done it, the pressure sometimes is a bit too much.

It takes time for me to realize that I've piled so much pressure that I finally sit back and laugh at it.

And it will be the greatest piece of knowledge I will gain this year:

Ease up.

Going to make myself commit to myself to never dance like that ever again.

They were right when i was terrible.

Just have to look at myself from another lens.

To see that i was really terrible.

Can i finally pull off something im proud of? besides tt bankai in hci?

Y-camp
Friday, June 13, 2008 0 comments

I like to do reflections a few days after my events so i don't forget them.

From the 5th to the 8th June, i've been devoting myself to pro-bonoism, volunteering in a camp for the intellectually disabled. As much as I gave them, I felt that the roles of beneficiary-mentor are reversed. What i've learnt from them, is far more than they did from me.

My benefactor was this 38 year old salesman who ISN'T mentally disabled. He sells objects of art made by the disabled. What strikes me, besides his thin-ness, is his optimistic and openness towards life. He seemed to find something to be happy about in every seemingly ugly picture in life. While we are fiery and passionate, he was just so optimistic. And it lets me to confirm, that happiness is found within one's own outlook to life; one is only unfortunate if he sees himself to be. Though he was born normal, and had his nervous system wrecked due to fever, thus losing control of his feel and fingers, he never showed a gloomy face, always there to enlighten, and well, he was kinda like sidharta.

But however, taking care of him was hard, and i get my first glimpse to taking care of these people. A toilet business could easily take 20-30 minutes. Showering takes 40 minutes. And then i really respected his family members for taking so good care of him, and lets me introspect the basics, the importance and the meaning of charity. What is it? Is it organizing the camp well and make sure everything goes smoothly? Or is it trully caring for each other and the beneficiaries with all your might and all your heart? Will we be able to carry this out out of the camp? this is what led to my deep self-reflection and introspection.

I hate to further elaborate on how fortunate I am, to even have 4 limbs, to even have an eccentric and complex mind, and furthermore, would aspire for great heights in dance. Sometimes I miss out the preciously simple things in life contrasting with my oblivious and ignorant conscience. Who am I to say that I dream, for the efforts I put in to my aspirations isn't worth a mustard seed they worked for their lives?

Should I be more altruistic? I pray hard.

The most important
Wednesday, January 09, 2008 0 comments

And i must add this to my resolutions:

To love God more than i did last year.

Last year i accomplished this resolution, it's the most important of all resolutions. And i'm so glad it was.

Print it on every wall to hilight the great significance and importance of it.

Resolutions
Tuesday, January 01, 2008 0 comments

there comes a time every year we set our goals. set our aims on what we wanna achieve for the next year. i realized that i didn't have any the last year.

realize when you set aims and goals you get so inspired? This' the 'chronicle' of the resolution. they inspire you and then break you. you make a set of goals to break yourself. stupid you may think but it's not at all.

it's so common for a person to set the new year's resolutions, and forget all of it, and fail in every way possible.

- if you fail to plan, you plan to fail

the common saying.

carrying out the plans, achieving your will is the other half. usually, more often than not, the day after 1st jan, we are on the road to failure. we must know the consequences of our goals, the effort involved to realizing it; nothing comes totally free of charge. We must look back on what we planned, look at the challenges ahead and fufill our goals and resolutions. therefore, ironically our first resolution, is to fufill our resolutions. maybe you can't fufill all, but substantial effort must be observed by yourself.

resolutions:

1. to fufill my resolutions.
2. be a more considerate person
3. come church more often
4. teach my student a powermove and get him to battle std. style
5. i wanna overburn physically through bboying 3 times this yr.
6. achieve a weight (mass) of 60kg
7. bench ratio of 1.6
8. 40 pullups
9. consistent under 10 minute 2.4km
10. at least 29 points for NAPHA
11. get 36 points for midyears
12. get 38 points for prelims
13. to be a better friend to the ones closest to me.
14. get into the top 4 for any bboy competition.
15. to be a responsible and deserving vice president for dance venia.
16. save $50 per month.

so here are the 15. i've gotta print them out.

keep me accountable please.
